Connecting of Two up to Seven WiresSemi Automatic Machine
Description
The machine is designed to process special IDC connectors with 2 - 7 positions. On the controller unit the position of the wire termination can be programmed.
In this semi-automatic machine the connectors are being fed by a magazine with multiple chambers. The system recognizes when only partially filled magazines are used and therefore moves automatically to the right position to pick up a connector. A special feeding mechanism transports the connectors to the place where the wire is inserted. In order to address the cavities of the IDC connector with the highest precision, Schaefer engineers placed several precision linear slides throughout the machine. The feeding unit can be rotated for proper alignment of the connectors.
The correct position of the manually inserted wire into the connector and the start of the crimp cycle are monitored by mechanical precision switches. The final product of this machine is a rotor with multiple wires crimped on to an IDC.
Range of Application
The semi automatic machine is being used in the wire harness industry for automobiles.
Examples Of Use
Motor connections, lamp bases, choke inductors
