More than 1000 electronic and automation producers from all over the world were represented at Productronica in Munich from November 10 to 13, 2009. Despite the economic recession 28’000 visitors showed their interest in the variety of product presentations and service offerings. Compared to 2007, the trade show had a decrease in number of visitors by 30%. However, there was a further increase in the expertise of visitors because the proportion of top management level and decision makers in their company increased by 19%.
The quality of visitors was also felt at the Schaefer booth. “The quantity was quite a bit lower but nearly 100% were experts in the industry”, the Schaefer management mentioned. Schaefer is optimistic about the future which was also confirmed by direct sales and independent agencies. They signaled the receipt of promising requests and conducted good discussions which set the base for new projects.
The visitors were primarily focused on the new developments of automatic wire processing systems. The robust cutting and stripping machine Megomat SAM1 with touch screen controls and the new components for seal processing SSM and SSK generated great interests. “The new economical wire processing machine model Megomat 1000e, came at the right time during this level of reduced capital investments”, Markus Schaefer informed. “Nevertheless, a continued request for customer solutions which are realized with the Megomat 1000c still exists.” Convincing was the new Operator software which is also applicable for existing Megomat machine generations. The increased user friendliness and production output was impressively demonstrated on the well known Megomat ASM 3001 Ultima machine.
